Project Overview
With this project, a good friend asked me if I could help him with designing and building a vegie garden, My friend is a wonderful cook who enjoys using fresh ingredients, so we both worked out that a vegie garden close to his kitchen and BBQ would be ideal.
My Contributions
We decided to use in the build as much recycled materials as possible. So old corrugated iron was used from left overs, Bruce also had lying around some rough 200x25 mm hardwood, we sanded it back and used it to create a place to rest your tools, to sit, to rest a cold beer or wine. Treated hardwood sleepers were used to give the structure some strength and help deter any termites. Once the vegie beds were built a good quality composted garden soil was used to fill them.
The surrounding area was then excavated and a paver edge concreted in place, we then add some road base and compacted the area to give a solid base underfoot. Decomposed granite is a good looking material and was used to cover the surface of the road base creating a natural finish to this project.
"Shane has created a beautiful and functional area for me to grow some produce for home, I also use the space as a gathering point for family get togethers and has made me enjoy my backyard even more."

Far far away, behind the word mountains, far from the countries Vokalia and Consonantia, there live the blind texts. Separated they live in Bookmarksgrove right at the coast of the Semantics, a large language ocean. A small river named Duden flows by their place and supplies it with the necessary regelialia. It is a paradisematic country, in which roasted parts of sentences fly into your mouth.
